Zoolz Review: Pros and Cons You Need to Know

Have you ever lost or damaged a computer, thus losing all of your files? It’s not a good feeling, and that’s why cloud backup services have become so popular. And the goal of our Zoolz review is to figure out if Zoolz is a worthy choice for backing up your important data.

From affordability to ease of use, there are many things to consider before you choose a cloud backup service. So, is Zoolz the service for you?

Zoolz is one of many companies that offers cloud backup services. A cloud backup service allows you to store data and other information digitally in what’s called the cloud.

You can store this information on your device, as well. However, you can access the cloud from any device. That means if your computer or smartphone gets damaged or lost, you can recover your files.

Zoolz claims to be the most affordable cloud backup company in the world. And for our Zoolz review, we want to compare that affordability to the features offered by the service.

Of course, affordability is good, but not if it compromises other factors, like storage options or storage capacity.

Zoolz offers multiple plans, so you can choose the option that suits your needs. They offer multiple options for business, but personal customers can use it, too. With BigMIND by Zoolz, you can get cloud storage for personal and home use.

For our Zoolz review, we will look at both types of cloud storage.

Personal and home

The smallest plan offers up to 1GB of storage and no backup limitations. One person can use the plan on up to three computers and two mobile devices. It supports one external drive and SD (standard definition) video streaming.

Next, there’s the personal plan, which has up to 100GB of storage. Its other features are similar to the first plan, but there are some differences. First, you can use up to three mobile devices and unlimited external drives.

You also get standard level support.

At the third tier, we have the family plan. This plan offers up to 500GB of storage. Up to three users can take advantage of the plan across nine computers and six mobile devices.

This tier also features unlimited backups, unlimited external drives, and SD video streaming. You also get access to standard support.

Finally, there’s the family plus level. This plan is the granddaddy of all the plans, with up to 1TB of storage and HD (high definition) video streaming.

Up to 5 people can use the plan on 15 computers and an unlimited number of mobile devices. You don’t have any backup limitations, and it supports unlimited external drives. It also offers premium support.

If you need a cloud backup service for your business, Zoolz has you covered. In this Zoolz review, we will look at their two streams of cloud storage for businesses.

First, there’s the standard Business Cloud, also called Deep Freeze. These plans start with 1TB of storage and go up to more than 200TB of storage.

Each plan supports unlimited users and servers as well as user and policy management. The plans are compliant with HIPPA and GDPR, so you don’t have to worry about data protection.

Zoolz is an AWS Advanced Technology Partner, which means they work with Amazon’s cloud to store your data securely.

The file system is user-friendly and lightweight. It allows you to organize, search, and preview files. You can also maintain control over data and users.

Zoolz also offers another form of business cloud storage through BigMIND by Zoolz. This cloud backup service combines traditional cloud backups with artificial intelligence.

It offers a slew of features, including automatic backups, compliances, and user management. The program is easy to use, from searching for files to text recognition.

You can search for files like you would search for Google results. It also lets you scan documents, and Optical Character Recognition helps you find those documents when you need them. The technology extracts the text from the document so you can search for the text.

It also has smart features that allow you to search for images by camera type, resolution, location, and date.

Zoolz claims they can offer 99.9 percent uptime, so you can always access your files.

Pros and cons

Like any cloud backup service, there are some pros and cons that we couldn’t leave out of our Zoolz review.

First up are the pros:

  • Variety of plans fit different needs

  • Traditional cloud storage plans as well as AI integration

  • Relatively affordable

  • Video streaming included on personal plans

Now for the cons:

  • Not much storage in the lowest tier personal plan

  • Personal plans have a low cap on connected devices — unless you pay up

  • Too many plans can make choosing one difficult

Customer reviews

For our Zoolz review, we wanted to know how customers felt about the cloud service. Of course, Zoolz has many great features. However, customers can provide an important perspective.

To figure out what customers think of the Zoolz, we went to Trustpilot. There, the average Zoolz review is 7.9 out of 10.

One customer said they loved storage and access, but they wished they could contact support with questions. Another customer said the program is easy to use and keeps your data safe.

However, some customers aren’t so pleased. Someone said they used the smallest plan since it was free for a lifetime, but they received a note saying their plan expired.

A second customer said they received the same message. Both reviews received replies from Zoolz stating that the expiration shouldn’t have been a shock.

Cloud Backup Basics

In our Zoolz review, we’ve talked about all of the features the company offers. However, we haven’t gone into detail on cloud backups or why you even need a cloud backup service.

So, we decided to answer some common questions you might have about cloud backups. Hopefully, these questions and answers will help you form your own Zoolz review to decide if the service is right for you.

What is a cloud backup service?

A cloud backup service, like Zoolz, lets you store your data in the cloud. The cloud is essentially a network for personal files and other data.

Of course, you can and should store files on your devices. However, a cloud backup service can give you a feeling of security since your data is in more than one place.

If you misplace or damage your device, you can still access your information from another computer.

Why do you need to use a cloud backup service?

Unfortunately, it’s not easy to store your data in the cloud yourself. To do that, you need a cloud backup service. These services can store your data for you, but you can still access your files when you need them.

Now, you’ve probably heard of cloud services, like OneDrive or Google Drive. However, these aren’t cloud backup services. Instead, they’re cloud sync services since they sync your data across devices.

So even if you have something like Google Drive, you still need a cloud backup service, which can backup data and drives in ways that cloud sync services can’t.

How can you use cloud backups?

Cloud backups are essential for almost anyone. If you have data you can’t afford to lose, you should store it in multiple places.

You probably already store your information on your computer. Maybe you also have an external hard drive. But what if you lose or can’t access both of those?

That’s where the cloud comes in. You can access the cloud from any device, so you can still get to your files if you don’t have a specific computer.

What should you look for in a cloud backup service?

You should look for a service that offers encryption. Many services offer basic encryption, but you should choose one that allows you to set a password to access your backups.

According to PCWorld, that extra encryption can protect your data from hackers and other third parties. Just be sure you don’t forget your password, otherwise, you won’t be able to access your backups.

The Digital World

Our world is becoming more and more digital by the day, and data storage is no exception. While external hard drives probably won’t go away soon, neither will cloud storage and cloud backup services.

And that popularity has given way to the rise of many cloud services. So, for our Zoolz review, we wanted to compare the service to similar options available.

Of course, this Zoolz review has covered many important things about Zoolz and cloud services. However, we can’t underestimate the competition.

Peace of mind

When you choose any cloud service, be it storage or backups, you want one that will give you peace of mind. You should know that your data and files will be safe in the cloud.

However, you also need to know you’ll have enough space to store all of your files. And you can’t forget that you need a service that you can access easily.

For our Zoolz review, we looked at all of the features and plans from Zoolz. We examined the plan sizes, device connectivity, and more. Customer reviews also played a role in this Zoolz review.

To determine if Zoolz is the best cloud backup service, we also had to compare it to the competition. We looked at the same things for the other services, from backup capacity to customer reviews.

Our first competing backup service is Backblaze, which offers unlimited backups for Mac and PC users. With Backblaze, you can backup your data automatically or on a set schedule.

The service can backup your computer as well as any attached external hard drives. You can download any or all of your files anywhere, and you can access them on a mobile device with the Backblaze app.

Backblaze stores your data in secure data centers, and your files are all encrypted. You can make things more secure by setting a personal encryption key, which is similar to a password.

With Backblaze, you can restore old versions of your files up to 30 days old and locate lost or stolen devices. You can even have a USB drive of your data sent to you in the mail.

The Business option has many of the same features. However, it also allows you to backup servers.

Customers on Trustpilot give Backblaze an average rating of 2.5 out of 10. One customer said Backblaze is low maintenance but reliable.

Unfortunately, most customers aren’t as pleased. One customer said the customer service is bad and that the backup button doesn’t work.

Another customer said the service is expensive and unreliable.

OpenDrive offers cloud backup, storage, and content management in one. You can store and backup your documents, music, and files. It’s easy to access your files online instantly and securely.

You can also create notes and to-do lists with OpenDrive Notes. The program also has OpenDrive Tasks, where you can manage tasks and projects.

They offer personal and business plans, so you can choose the option that’s best for you. Personal plans start with 5GB of storage and go up to unlimited storage. The business plans start with 500GB of storage and go up to unlimited storage.

With the business plans, you can also manage multiple users and maintain consistent branding.

You can use OpenDrive in the web browser, on Mac, and on Windows. It also works with Linux, Android, and iPhones.

On Trustpilot, customers give OpenDrive an average rating of 8.6 out of 10. One customer said the service is powerful and easy to access. A second customer said the program is a great option.

However, a third customer said the connection and support from OpenDrive are slow.

Finally, we have Livedrive. Like the other services, Livedrive offers multiple plans for both personal and business use.

The smallest plan allows for one computer and unlimited backups. Their middle personal plan includes 2,000GB of storage, but it also offers access to desktop and mobile apps.

The largest personal plan allows up to five computers, unlimited storage, and backups for tablets and mobile devices.

Their business plans offer high-level security, backups for multiple computers, and more. However, it’s primarily cloud storage rather than cloud backups.

Livedrive customers give the company an average rating of 4.2 out of 10 on Trustpilot. One customer praised the product and customer service.

However, a second customer claims they keep getting spam emails from Livedrive prompting them to protect their computer.

Always There

If you’ve ever used cloud storage, you can understand the need and use of cloud backups. Backups do more than store your data; they keep your data safe in the cloud.

And there are tons of cloud backup services out there, including Zoolz. So for our Zoolz review, we wanted to evaluate the company and determine how it stands up to the competition.

We think Zoolz is one of the best options on the market. It’s more affordable than the competition, and there are tons of plans to choose from.
