DVD vs. Blu-Ray Burning – The Differences

dvd vs blu-rayThere are quite a few differences in DVD and Blu-Ray media. Most of the obvious differences are the file storage and the quality of the videos on screen. Blu-ray players are the newest edition of video players. They can play the standard DVDs, but DVD players are not compatible with the new Blu-ray videos.

While there are increasingly a number of Blu-ray videos coming out on the market, users still have the desire to burn their own videos. This is another difference in the two types of video players. Their construction makes burning the two DVDs different and not all devices are compatible for burning both videos.

Devices that Allow for Burning Videos

When ready to burn a video, it is important to make sure what types of videos the device is compatible with. Users can burn videos on computers or video players depending on their preference. The manual for the computer should acknowledge what type of formats the burner is compatible with.

Latest computers may include Blu-ray burning options, but older models will not sustain anything but DVD burning, if any at all. Not all Blu-ray players allow for burning of the videos. When purchasing a device, questions about burning both Blu-ray discs and DVDs should be asked.

Burning a DVD

If burning a DVD on a computer, the appropriate software and optical drive must be installed. Some software provide a one click option to burn a DVD, while others use a step-by-step to ensure the user has recorded the video properly.

Users can download DVDs of movies online, through their pictures they have stored on the computer, or by connecting the computer to a TV.  There are many sites that allow users to burn DVDs off popular movies for a minimal fee.

Burning a Blu-Ray Disc

Blu-ray disc are a lot higher quality than DVDs. This makes them incompatible with each other. Users will see this when watching a DVD and then a Blu-ray movie. Although most Blu-ray players allow for viewing DVDs, burning Blu-ray discs are something completely different.

It is essential to have a Blu-ray burner or else burning the Blu-ray disc is impossible. There are several programs that allow users to install on their computer to burn the disc. Just like with burning DVDs, some programs may be more complex than others.  Recruitment process outsourcing is an important element in areas like DVD’s and Blu-ray discs.

So, to the user there is not much difference in the burning process of DVDs and Blu-ray discs. The red and blue lasers is what makes the formats different as well as the groves and pits on the physical media. You just need to be sure that you have the appropriate hardware.  Eventually DVDs will become obsolete and users will either have to learn how to convert their old DVDs or outsource it to a professional.
