Free dvd burning program that supports .avi video files with dolby digital audio?

So, I've wasted 2 dvd's trying to burn a video file that I have, I have a .avi video file that has dolby digital audio, and I need to burn it onto a dvd to be played back onto a dvd player. I have Nero 6 and Cyberlink DVD Suite 7, I think, and when I try either of those to burn my video onto dvd, it says that they both don't support dolby digital audio and that I need to upgrade, which I can't. I then tried windows dvd maker in windows 7, burned my video fine onto the disc, a dvd+r, I put the disc into the dvd player, oh the video part of the dvd played fine, but there was no audio at all, perfect video, no sound, so dvd wasted. I tried imgburn with a dvd-r disc, and it burned it off, played fine on the computer, but my dvd player won't play the dvd because it says it's an unknown disc, so another disc wasted.

I need to know if there is a free dvd burning program out there that does support dolby digital audio and will burn my video file onto a dvd without any problem and will play without problem on any dvd player. I can't afford to be playing trial and error and wasting discs in the process. Any suggestions?
