Features You Can Get With Widescreen DVD

July 27, 2009 by Blu Ray Burner

I like films and I adore picking up DVD copies of my tops. My DVD collection does not only involve the discs but the players too. The newest accessory is a portable widescreen DVD player which I will carry wherever I go.

The Widescreen Format

Blame the necessity to upgrade to widescreens to the film industry as they have been using this format since time immemorial. Watching pictures in the standard 4:3 ratio television sets is such an aggravating experience brought about by the need to deal with watching the film either cropped, with only the center portion being shown, or with the black bands on top and at the base of the screen, known as letterboxes, which in turn scale back the picture size. With a reduced picture size, I tend to squint at the screen especially with smaller television sets. I manifestly like to watch widescreen DVD movies or any film for what it’s worth with a widescreen TV.

Then here come the copy cat television networks who have switched to the widescreen format as well, making it a requirement to possess widescreen TVs. The truth is, not only have I have a widescreen television for my entertainment room; all my television sets are widescreens. Though , that is a small price to pay in return for perfect viewing satisfaction, especially when it came to watching my all time favourite films, or movies.

Movie Buff on the Go

My day is ruled by the constant need to attend for truly long periods of time and those periods have a tendency to feel longer without something to entertain myself with. That is why I have invested in a portable widescreen DVD player too. Now, I should bring my picture watching habit wherever I’m going and waiting periods are now not a bore.
