High Definition DVD Movies Slow to Start

September 1, 2006 by Blu Ray Burner

According to an article published on Yahoo News, initial sales of High Def DVD’s are below expectations.

“Neither format is selling well or at the level I had expected. I had expected early adopters to step up and other retailers have had the same experience,” said Bjorn Dybdahl, president of San Antonio, Texas-based specialty store Bjorn’s.

The first Blu Ray Player from Samsung is around $1000 while Toshibe launched a $500 HD DVD Player. Blu Ray was the initial leader in the format war due to the large studios backing the format. But initial results from the 1st titles released have been subpar according to some outlets.
